We're still alive, and suffering as well as we can through a 2 day snow storm. Monday night we holed ourselves up in the house and didn't go out, but by Tuesday night we were feeling like going to Spanish Fork for our weekly SCA meeting. Hopefully it will clear up before the SCA event going on this Saturday.
We're looking forward to Christmas, and seeing Mom and Dad and other folks coming to Utah. Stephanie even said she's gonna bring me her MIL's loom to take care of, so I'm trying to clear out a corner for it in the bedroom. Meanwhile, if anyone needs a last-minute gift idea, this book or this book are well recommended by some fiber arts buddies. :)
I'm avoiding sewing a pair of pluderhose (aka Renaissance Hammer Pants) for a friend, but I've already avoided it for over a year so now I have to actually do them. They're mostly done. I've also said I can't make anything pretty for me until I do, and I really want to do stuff for me. I don't know why I'm having such mental blocks about the whole thing, but I'm trying to fight them.
Other than that, things are pretty quiet. Work, play, sewing, sleep.

State of the Me
I'd just like to let everyone know that I am, in fact, awesome.
Drew and I are doing well. Drew is still on the job hunt. We've actually been pretty lucky up to this point -- tax returns, deposit from the old place, and Drew's six weeks in the call center seemed to give us just enough boost to get us through car repairs and other needful things, but now we're tightening up for the long haul. No more superfluous purchases for a while. I'm on the lookout for a new job, with full workdays and benefits. Prayers and good thoughts are always welcome.
I'm SO CLOSE to finishing an embroidery project I've been working on since March. It's coif (like a headwrap/cap) that's covered in blackwork embroidery. It's very pretty. I stressed out a lot less once I found the extra thread that I'd put away "somewhere safe" before we moved in May.
Other than that, life's been pretty uneventful. Hence the lack of updates. Though we found FABULOUS peaches at the corner store for super cheap, the first good peaches I've had in like two years.
I made pie. This is just one more reason why I'm super awesome.

Moving In
We started moving into our new place last Saturday (Call me for new address), to the point where we have almost all of our furniture, all of our food, a decent portion of our personal effects, and just enough cooking supplies to make me miss something while I'm trying to make dinner. We're paid out until the end of the month, so we're being fairly leisurely about getting the rest of our things and cleaning the place up.
Our new apartment, while not large by any means, is positively VAST compared to our old place. We have a tiny office/spare room that fits our books, Drew's computer, and all my sewing stuff pretty comfortably, along with a closet for our bulky garb. The kitchen is actually big enough for us to eat in it. The bathroom is spacious, bright, and airy. The bedroom is enormous.
The only bad part of the place is the incredibly small stairwell/hallway that is the only way in or out, that is about 2" too narrow to fit our box springs (despite four different people who all thought they had the perfect method for it). It can now only look into the bedroom, alone and forlorn (Stephanie--I think we might have room for the loom in a corner of the bedroom, but the problem will probably be getting it down those stairs). We might be in the market for a king, though I'm not convinced we need it and I'd hate to have a too-big bed for any future living arrangements we might have, so we're just sleeping on the mattress while we try to decide.
We also inherited several bits of furniture from Jen and Mitch. We got a bigger bookshelf that holds ALL the books (leaving us a spare for fabric!), an entertainment center that the TV just barely fits into, and a comfy futon couch, though the mattress was giving us some allergy issues (but my boss has a futon cushion she wants to get rid of -- win!). While there is still organizing to do, and there are boxes everywhere, the new place is very cozy and a really good fit for us. I can see us living here for a while.

Homes and Jobs
We just signed the contract of our new place (the one we were looking at as of my last post) on Saturday, and then informed NHS that we are paid out until the end of May, so they will not require any rent monies from us. I just hope we can still get our deposit. Since it didn't look like they were gonna kick us out as soon as the house closed, I don't know if we'll get the incentives to leave, but whatever. I don't want to live in a place where there's an ever-present threat of being kicked out in 90 days. Now is a good time to move, so move we shall.
Now that Drew has a job again, we're feeling really good about our place in the world, though there are some serious flaws. Tech support is one of those industries that really can't be limited to the 5-day 8-hour workweek, and his hours reflect as such. He's been training for the past five weeks, so his schedule was fairly normal, but he just got his bid yesterday: Monday and Wednesday-Saturday, evening shift until 10 pm. Drew was really glad that he could opt out of Sundays, but now we'll practically only see each other two days a week (his shift will start right before I get off work). We might be able to take a day to go to a local SCA event in a few weeks, but other than that weekends are gonna be tough.
With Drew taking the car to Lindon every day and the weather getting nicer, I'm taking the bus to work in the mornings and walking home in the afternoons. It's not that bad of a walk, though it is a bit longer than what I was used to living in the student ghettos on the east side of University, and I'm learning the true joy of broken-in, sensible flats. I'm even joining a walking competition with some other folks in the office, where we track our steps against other teams. I got a little pedometer and everything. I think one of the prizes is free ice cream, which I find pretty ironic.
With the move coming up, Drew and I are, for the first time, working on decluttering and organizing our belongings, so we don't end up moving over more stuff that we don't use or need. I'm looking forward to throwing out a bunch of my old clothes and stuff, and starting anew.

Why on Earth...
...did it have to SNOW 6 inches yesterday?!? The poor trees on campus, they were all in full bloom, and the (particularly wet) snow weighed down on them so much, some split right in half.
The weather for tomorrow is expected to be in the 70s. What?

New Place
We have a lead on a new place -- another basement apartment, only slightly more than what we're paying now, and about 1/3 more space. Much better layout, too. The walls are actually white, and the windows are nice and big, so it feels much less like a basement. And...an extra room for all of our cra-I mean, projects. Our upstairs neighbors are good friends. And we're still in the ward! Woot!
It was a great announcement to give Drew for his birthday. Along with some tasty meat buns, a strawberry cake topped with whipped cream, and some new paintbrushes from me.
